Submissions are broken on mobile, for me. I no longer see the little + bubble for submitting. And the desktop submit link doesn’t work :( it keeps asking me to log in, when I’m already logged in.
Huh, that’s very odd! Unfortunately, there isn’t anything we can do about it - we’re Tumblr users just like you, so all we have control over is whether the submit box is enabled. We recommend filing a bug report directly with Tumblr so they can hopefully fix it!
Btw in case you aren't aware, on your blog it's currently enabled for other users to blaze your posts. You can turn it off in settings (it's near the settings for tipping and asks) if that's not something you want random people to be able to do.
Thanks for the heads-up! It looks like that just got enabled for us today. That said, the mods don’t see any reason not to allow it - the point of this blog is to share silly TTRPG quotes, so if someone wants to blaze one of our posts, it’ll just mean more people getting to see that quote!
(Unless we’re missing something obvious about this functionality, which is very possible since both mods have had a very long day XD If we are, feel free to let us know in the replies or via the ask box!)
Do yoy have a masterpost for the tags you use?
Why is your website formatted like AO3?
We weren’t aware that it was! 😅 The site uses one of the free Tumblr templates along with a red color scheme pulled from the colors in the D&D logo in our blog icon. Neither mod is good enough at graphic design to intentionally copy AO3 (or any other site, for that matter)!
Is there any way we could petition you(all) to create an Insta account and post these quotes on there? I am barely on here at all anymore, and most of friends/family/DnD friends are on Insta as well, and would love to be able to directly share the posts (in DMs, not repost on my account) rather than a tumblr link or screenshot of the post.
If not it's fine, completely understandable that would be something else to have to manage and all, but I just wanted to ask, also may get some more exposure on there.
All this aside, I love the content and laughs and smiles from the submissions. Keep it up! It's great!
Thanks again, sorry for the book lol :,)
Hmm, it’s something we can consider! The mods have Serious Concerns about using any properties owned by or associated with Facebook, but for something like a silly TTRPG quotes blog, it might not be as big a deal. We’ll think it over and let y'all know. Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
Hello, I had submitted the Blindheim post (which was posted on this blog sep. 21) anonymously, and while it was fun to see my party's quote, it was attributed to @fallintoinsanity, and not accredited as an anonymous submission like some other quotes. I was just wondering what was going on there?
It just feels a bit disheartening to see something you yourself had made to attributed to some random person you don't even know about.
Hey! Unfortunately this is a weird Tumblr quirk/bug with anonymous submissions. So, @fallintosanity is the parent blog of @yourplayersaidwhat, and one of the mods. For whatever reason, if a mod has to edit an anonymous submission before posting (such as to add a tag), the anonymous submission shows as being submitted by fallintosanity instead of anonymous.
It’s really dumb and frustrating, but we don’t know what to do about it other than file bugs with Tumblr and wait until it gets fixed. :(
Also, this is now covered in our shiny new FAQs to hopefully make it easier for folks to find out what’s going on.

No problem! We’re also in the process of updating our FAQs, so we might be able to make the pinned message even smaller soon. :)
As for dark mode, it most likely depends on your browser settings. If the built-in dark mode setting doesn’t work, Firefox has a color override option you can use to force-change the blog theme:

Chrome may have something similar, as well.
Unfortunately, if neither of those work, there may not be much we can do. Tumblr doesn’t offer a per-user dark-mode toggle for themes as far as we know, and last we checked, there are no free dark themes which work well for text-based blogs. :/
I don't know if you know this but (in the app at least) your FAQ link is broken and sends you to a full tumblr search for "how to submit"...
Just in case that's like. A problem you want to look into lol.
Anyway i love this blog, keep up the good work.

Hey, that’s a good suggestion - thanks! We’ve tweaked the text to shorten it as much as possible, and removed the kitten gif. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of Tumblr’s post formatting, we can’t adjust the guide images to make them smaller or next to the text. Hopefully the changes help some, at least!
(You still get a kitten gif because this post isn’t pinned :) )
Damn. I used to be able to use google to look up real old quotes I wanted to see again by searching for a distinctive word or contiguous series of words. But now it fails to find them. Do you know of an alternative method to search for old quotes that you remember small parts of?
We often get usable results using the Tumblr URL search hack: https://yourplayersaidwhat.tumblr.com/search/word+or+phrase
It depends a lot on how unique the part you remember is, but hopefully that helps!
(Also, it’s odd that Google isn’t finding the old quotes. I don’t think we’ve changed anything that would break Google search, hmm…)
