Submissions are broken on mobile, for me. I no longer see the little + bubble for submitting. And the desktop submit link doesn’t work :( it keeps asking me to log in, when I’m already logged in.
Huh, that’s very odd! Unfortunately, there isn’t anything we can do about it - we’re Tumblr users just like you, so all we have control over is whether the submit box is enabled. We recommend filing a bug report directly with Tumblr so they can hopefully fix it!
Btw in case you aren't aware, on your blog it's currently enabled for other users to blaze your posts. You can turn it off in settings (it's near the settings for tipping and asks) if that's not something you want random people to be able to do.
Thanks for the heads-up! It looks like that just got enabled for us today. That said, the mods don’t see any reason not to allow it - the point of this blog is to share silly TTRPG quotes, so if someone wants to blaze one of our posts, it’ll just mean more people getting to see that quote!
(Unless we’re missing something obvious about this functionality, which is very possible since both mods have had a very long day XD If we are, feel free to let us know in the replies or via the ask box!)
Hey I think you posted one of my submissions and credited another person? Unless we submitted the same thing which is possible
how do i access the tags in the quote submission box? i've submitted a few times but i only ever see these
i know there are more but i don't know how to get to them
Don’t worry, those are all the tags available to submitters! The specialty tags (“this is how you paladin”, “anything you can do bards can do better”, and so on) are added by the mods when we move a submission into the queue.
We do this because some versions of the submission form (we suspect mobile but can’t confirm) automatically add all the available tags if the submitter doesn’t choose any - which, as you can imagine, is very annoying when the mods then have to go through and delete all those extra tags off a submission. So we ask submitters to pick the tags for which they have context (game system, whether it’s an official module, whether it’s shareable, etc), and then the mods add the specialty tags later.
Speaking of: submitters, when you tag your submissions correctly, they get posted much faster! The mods have so many submissions to review every day that we often skip ones that require a bunch of tag-wrangling, until one of us has some extra time to handle those submissions. We greatly appreciate correctly-tagged submissions because we can queue them much faster.
Hey I wanted to say that I also have the thing so it doesn't recognize I'm logged in
Interesting! I just tried it, and now I’m seeing it too. My best guess is that Tumblr changed something on their backend, because as far as I know this wasn’t an issue before. Unfortunately, there’s not anything the mods can do about it; we don’t have control over how Tumblr handles custom domain connections. :( We recommend reporting it to Tumblr support as a bug.
When I try to access your submit page, it doesn't recognise that I'm logged in. Maybe an issue with the custom URL.
If I don't remember the exact quote, could I submit something along the lines of "we had to tell (blank) that (blank)" or would you prefer it in half-assed quotes?
We prefer the quotes! Any submission which isn’t primarily a quote/dialogue - even if it’s describing an approximate conversation - gets automatically deleted. This is because it’s hard to draw a fair line between submissions which are a description of primarily dialogue, and ones that are a description of primarily events. Since we’re a silly quotes blog, it’s far simpler for the mods to have everyone submit quotes. (Besides, no one will know it’s not a perfect direct quote unless you tell us!)
Can I submit a twitch clip?
As long as it follows the rules on the submit page, sure! This means that it’s from you/your group, not something you took from someone else’s stream. And for Twitch in particular, since it’ll have voice and maybe video, please make sure you have explicit permission from everyone in the clip before submitting.
If one of my submissions was eaten, can I resend it?
Absolutely! As a general suggestion, we also recommend double-checking this post for other reasons why your submission might not have been posted. If you’re confident your submission follows all the rules, and it’s been more than two months since you (re-)submitted, feel free to send us an ask to see what’s going on!
